Our
Aims:
The main objectives of the Environmental Education Center are to increase
awareness of environmental issues among the community by means of educational
programs, which emphasize the relationship between humans and their
environment. Focus is also placed on the development of positive values
and attitudes in regards to the environment and natural resources.
Specific objectives
include the following:
1. Provide a meeting place for students, teachers and the public
2. Promote environmental education concepts
3. Provide activities in the interest of nature conservation
4. Promote more positive behavior towards the environment
The EEC consists
of three main programs:
The first includes a natural history museum with a collection of over
2,500 specimens of fossils, rocks and fauna; an environmental exhibition
developed jointly with the European Natural Heritage Fund (Euro-Nature
Germany); a computer lab, and a botanical garden (bird conservation
area, Mediterranean trees, Biblical trees, outdoor classrooms).
The Children for
the Protection of Palestine (CPNP) is the second main program of EEC.
It focuses on environmental awareness through the publication and distribution
of educational materials, the formation of environmental clubs and the
celebration of various national and international environmental awareness
days. It also encompasses aspects such as summer camps, clean-up campaigns
and water preservation.
The third program
is Migratory Birds Know No Boundaries. This provides facilities for
bird-watching clubs and the progression of ringing (banding) stations
and bird-monitoring stations.
